The Adrian Center for the Arts (ACA) will have several member artists with booths at this year’s Artalicous on Sept. 20 and 21. The Center will staff a demonstration and informational booth as well as student make and take and the popular Louvre Jr. all located on non-profit row.
The make and take booth for children will be coordinated by ACA Youth Program Director Julia Tomaro. Children will learn about texture and design by making sole pendants. They will imprint self-hardening clay with the bottom of their shoe, making a hole in the top, then adding paint for color. The activity and the resulting pendant are free.
In the ACA demonstration booth, member artists Jeanne O’Leary will be demonstrating watercolor painting techniques; ACA 2-Dimensional Director Jill Shaffer will demonstrate pastel drawing; Lorenzo Cristaudo will demonstrate printmaking; Deb Allen ceramics; Ardea Thurston-Shaine oil painting; Jim Bundshuh, metal sculpture and Maria Kolin, figurative sculpting.
ACA members with their own booths at the festival are: ceramicist Duane Bastian, mixed media artist Pat Cooper, painter and photographer Mary Gautz, painter Sarah Henry, stained glass artist Linda Jacobs, fiber artist Mary Kelly, painter and multi-media artist Kelly Moore, painter Jo Peck, painter Carl Quinn, watercolor artist Tom Thiery, painter Shirley VanBenschoten potter Bryan VanBenschoten and ceramicist Laura VanCamp.
The Louvre Jr. is championed by ACA volunteer Heidi Drake and is the destination for children who complete projects from 10 artist booths on non-profit row. They can then head to the Louvre Jr. to choose a piece of handmade art to begin their own collection.
Lots of information will be available at the ACA booth, including fliers for fall classes and announcements of upcoming events.
Artalicious runs from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday and from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., Saturday.
