Adrian Center for the Arts Announces Fall Painting Classes

Thiery, Hibbard, Shaffer, Thurston-Shaine Highlight upcoming sessions

The Adrian Center for the Arts (ACA) has announced painting classes for this fall. 


Local favorite watercolorist Tom Thiery will teach an eight-session class in using watermedia, 7 – 8:30 p.m., Thursdays, October 17-December 19. 

New ACA member artist Lindsay Hibbard will offer a six-week session called “Discovering your Medium,” which will expose artists to different types of medium used to create. This will be offered from 2 – 4 p.m., Sundays, October 13 – November 17. Hibbard is an established illustrator with a career that spans architectural and book illustration and many other endeavors. 

ACA resident artist Ardea Thurston-Shaine will teach an 8-session class from 2-4 p.m., Sundays,  September 22 – November 10 on color in oils. Thurston-Shaine is an accomplished oil painter from Ann Arbor.

ACA Acorn Studio Director and resident painter Jill Shaffer will teach a six-session class on using pastels from 1-3 p.m., Wednesdays, September 18 – October 23. She will also offer a Pastel Pet Workshop 6-8 p.m., October 17 and 18.

ACA resident artist and photographer Mary Gautz will offer a Decorative Box Making class, 1- 4 p.m., Sundays, September 8 – 22; a Fun with Notecards class 1-4 p.m., October 12 as well as an Introduction to Framing class 1-4 p.m., November 9.
