Oct 11 Beginning Glass Bead Making


Building location for class: Maintenance Garage, Building 43, GLASS, Southwest Entrance

Date of class: Wednesdays, October 11, 18 and 25, 2017 (3 day class)

Time of class: 6pm – 9pm

Class Description: Basic bead making using a surface mix torch and soda-lime glass rods will be the focus of the class including larger plain beads and creating various bead shapes. Basic design techniques for decorating beads including frit, dots and stringer will be explored. Torch and studio safety will be reviewed. The class will be taught as an open studio that explores topics and techniques based upon students’ interests with the guidance of the instructor as needed.


Any additional information the student needs to know? IMPORTANT: Students taking glass courses using torches must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed toe shoes and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged.
