BEGINNING GLASS BEAD MAKING/OPEN STUDIO

Class Description: Basic bead making using a surface mix torch and soda-lime glass rods will be the focus of the class including larger plain beads and creating various bead shapes. Basic design techniques for decorating beads including frit, dots and stringer will be explored. Torch and studio safety will be reviewed. The class will be taught as an open studio that explores topics and techniques based upon the students’ interests with the guidance of the instructor as needed.

IMPORTANT: Students taking these courses must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed toe shoes and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged.
